The first language students in our learning packages with live events are finished with the e-learning modules. So we have started the peer discussions. Here we would like to give you a short impression of what to expect in the peer discussions:
- Getting to know each other (language level, previous history, future plans)
- Practical exercises (role plays)
- Veterinarian-pet owner conversation on typical small animal practice consultations
- Putting practical experience and acquired expertise into words (keyword: job interview)
- Country-specific differences to procedures in the practice and to working as a veterinarian in Germany
- we recommend websites, professional magazines, series etc. with which you can practice the German technical language
- we give you tips on job search, training etc.
- we respond to your wishes
We have a lot of fun having these conversations. And we have the impression that everyone involved feels the same way. In the colleague talks, the aim is for you to gain language practice. So we make sure that you can talk a lot and put the technical terms you've learned into the right context, depending on the situation. You will learn to respond to and ask questions and explain your veterinary expertise to the patient owner and give instructions. Through conversation, you will receive direct feedback. In this way, you gain confidence for the practical work because you can be sure that the pet owner would understand you. It is not important if a sentence is perfect. (You can refine grammar in our other live events: Live Language Lessons.) You will also learn how to find alternatives if you are missing a certain word.
We look forward to getting to know you personally in the peer discussions!
Peer discussions are included in the "Basic", "Standard", "Supreme" packages. They each consist of 1 hour of Zoom conversation with a person from the "German course for veterinarians" team and 1-5 language students in a relaxed atmosphere. This way you can also exchange your experiences about starting a career in Germany.
